Congratulations

Congratulations to Martial Madoumier

Congratulations to Martial Madoumier who received the Junior Moulton Medals ! Martial Madoumier was rewarded for the valorization of his thesis work carried out at the laboratory

The Junior Moulton Medals  awarded to the early career author of the most meritorious papers published by Institution of Chemical Engineers,  IChemE in the last year. The medals are named after Baron Moulton, an early shaper of the field of chemical engineering through his role as director general of the explosives department in the UK’s War Office during World War One.

With Junior Moulton Medal, IChemE rewards the last forward-looking paper of Martial's PhD in topic area that is important in the future : the sustainability of the food processes. In collaboration with the Chemical Engineering Laboratory in Toulouse, we developed a methodological framework for the multi-objective eco-friendly design of food processes. The framework combines process description (using a commercial simulation tool) and multi-objective optimisation with life cycle analysis and cost assessment tools, all integrated in a multi-criteria decision support tool. The framework was illustrated by the example of milk evaporation, one of the most energy-intensive processes in the dairy industry, which has enormous potential for optimisation.
